Hi all,
According to our Portsmouth LE, Sandy, power is starting to trickle back to the island. First I got a note that Clement's was up and running, and now she tweets that one neighborhood may be getting juice, and a traffic light on Turnpike Ave is on.
Fingers crossed. I'll pass on more details if/as I have them.

Hi Susan,
I was down in RI for the storm and from what I experienced RI really got spared, except for the fact that almost the entire state is out of power currently. Expected "catastrophic" floods, thankfully, never really materialized and most of the rain missed RI to the west. That said, there were definitely powerful gusts and elevated tides, and even a tornado reported in a different part of the state.
Hope St. should be fine, but I would pay attention to two sites. First (obviously a shameless plug for Patch) - we have a Local Editor, Sara Bagwell, covering Bristol & Warren: http://bristol-warren.patch.com/
This is an excellent article that has been shared on most of our RI sites as it is regional information: http://bristol-warren.patch.com/articles/thousands-will-remain-dark-for-several-days-2
Second, National Grid (our utility) has an outage site which shows exactly how bad the damage is: http://www1.nationalgridus.com/narragansett/stormcenter/
The good news is that the forecast for RI is sunny and pretty much perfect for the week. We are all hoping that will aid the electricity recovery efforts.

ReplyThese pictures are amazing! Thanks so much, everyone, for sharing your shots with the rest of us. Really beautiful and, of course, always nice to see owls back at Sachuest.
