'Fair Food Friday' Kicks Off At Fairgrounds In Pleasanton
As for now, the Alameda County Fair is still on for 2020. But if you're craving "fair-centric" food, place your to-go order by Wednesday.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Alameda County Fair is about two months away, but if you need a fix of fair food to get you through, check out "Fair Food Friday" — a new, weekly takeout-dinner series that begins April 24.
The facility's master caterer is crafting a variety of special "fair-centric" menus that can be ordered online for pickup at the fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
"Like so many other small businesses in our community, we are thinking out of the box to keep our teams functioning during this time," said Angel E. Moore, Alameda County Fairgrounds vice president, business development.

On the menu for this Friday is a "BBQ Rib Box," that includes bourbon brown-sugar, baby-back ribs, mac 'n' cheese, rainbow slaw, a twice-baked potato topped with cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives, plus deep-fried Oreos with hot fudge and raspberry sauce for dessert. The meal can be ordered by individual servings for up to 12 people. Beer, wine and margaritas also are available.
Orders must be placed online here by 5 p.m. Wednesday for curbside pickup on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

While several county fairs throughout California announced cancellations for the upcoming season, the Alameda County Fair, for now, is still on for its 2020 run from June 19 to July 12, Moore said.
Events and activities at the grounds, along with off-track betting, were canceled through early May due to COVID-19 mandates. Moore said the fairgrounds team is waiting on updates from the state and county for large, public gatherings before a decision on the 2020 fair is made.
