🦸 Superpower Poll!
A 2018 survey found that Americans would love to have the superpower of healing others. If we take this one off the table, which superpower would you love to have?
- 28.6 percent: The ability to fly
- 23.8 percent: The ability to time travel
- 19 percent: The ability to read minds
- 9.5 percent: The ability to become invisible
- 4.8 percent: Superhuman strength, teleport, healing, or win select lotteries and give money away
📰 Here are the top stories in Grand Junction today:
- The officer involved in January’s Carl’s Jr. parking lot shooting will not be charged. Officers were looking for a suspect with three warrants. They found him sitting in a car in the fast-food restaurant’s parking lot. He tried to get away but crashed into a menu board. The suspect then revved the engine and went after a retreating officer, who shot him, which led to the suspect’s apprehension. (City of Grand Junction)
- Good property values news can be a double-edged sword. In the county, the values of residential properties rose about 39 percent over the last couple of years. However, this means that taxes are also going up. Mesa County is trying to get ahead of increases by decreasing mill levies. (Mesa County)
- In the 1980s, it was the San Antonio Rose. In the 90s, you knew it as The Rose. It then became the "Infinity Night Club" and eventually “Central Station.” We learned that it changed hands again and is closed this weekend. Will the name stay the same this time? No announcement has been made. (Kool 107.9)
- Don’t underestimate the rivers. Currents have been getting the best of several swimmers, resulting in five river rescues by the Grand Junction Fire Department since May 1. In fact, “the city of Grand Junction is warning people away from the River Park at Las Colonias.” (Coyote Gulch)
- Speaking of rivers, there’s an opportunity to assist with the annual Gunnison River cleanup. The Colorado Canyons Association has set aside June 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the event. Community volunteers “must have their own watercraft as well as the ability to provide their own shuttle.” If this is you, meet the others at the Confluence Park boat launch. (Colorado Canyon Association)
