Itβs heating up! Besides water, what is your favorite summertime drink? So far, 23.5 percent like frozen margaritas. Another 17.6 percent each like lemonade, an Arnold Palmer, or Coca-Cola. For 11.8 percent, iced tea is the drink of choice. The final 5.9 percent each grab an ice-cold beer or watermelon punch.
π° Here are the top stories in Grand Junction today:
- A neighbor in the 2900 block of Sandra Avenue set fire to a vehicle on his property. Mesa County sheriffβs deputies drove out to the location just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived as well. A deputy shot the man; βa criminal investigation launched by a 21st Judicial District team will determine whether the use of force was legally justified.β (The Denver Post)
- Firefighters also responded to Orchard Mesa on Thursday. Around 12:30 p.m., they received reports of an RV on fire in the area of B Road and Clymer Drive. Reportedly, βthe person driving the RV saw smoke and pulled over, and the vehicle caught on fire.β Nobody was hurt, but we donβt know what caused the fire. (KJCT)
- Spring Creek Fire update: The fire that was first reported on June 24 is now 21 percent contained. Because neighbors said they wanted to help out, authorities wanted you to know that the firefighters have what they need. This includes food and supplies. However, local first responders and wildland firefighters may not. Folks wanting to help should connect with the local fire district. (Spring Creek Fire, 2)
- Pickleball enthusiasts will find the last remaining Lincoln Park tennis courts converted for pickleball play. This brings the number of courts to 20. Besides that, thereβll also be LED lights that allow for later evening play. (NBC)
- Do you like to take photos? The city wants you to submit some great shots for the annual calendar. βCategories for photograph submission have broadened to include landscapes, cityscapes, and city events.β You have until Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. to submit photos electronically. (The Daily Sentinel/paywall, City of Grand Junction)
