π° Here are the top stories in Grand Junction today:
- The downtown public toilet at Fifth Street and Colorado Avenue will finally be replaced. In its stead, the city will build a self-cleaning facility. Itβs unclear if this will put an end to the vandalism that seems to focus on the space. (The Daily Sentinel/paywall)
- Monsoon season is here! If you havenβt done so already, clear your property of any debris that could cause problems if thereβs a fire or flood. Also, βGrand Junction will see more street flooding rather than flash floods, but local creeks or dry waterways can fill up if thereβs heavy rain.β (KJCT)
- βOpportunity Awaits in Grand Junctionβ is a video doubling as an advertisement for prospective companies wanting to relocate. It focuses on the Riverfront at Las Colonias business park and draws attention to the cityβs seven Opportunity Zones. Besides that, the Grand Junction Economic Partnership offers incoming businesses a number of services such as βassistance with site selection, access to business resources and incentives and introduction to local and state networks.β (Colorado Biz)
- Construction on the Grand Junction Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints progresses. If youβve been wondering about the slow pace, it has everything to do with shale on the site. Also, insiders point to labor force issues and the difficulty in obtaining some construction materials. (NBC)
- Speaking of construction, it'll be a little more difficult for drivers to get around this coming week. The chipseal program picks up again on Tuesday in the area of Willowbrook Road, south of Northridge Drive. Traffic roundabout work continues to make travel challenging on G Road. And let's not forget the Orchard Mesa sewer replacement and the waterlines on 18th Street. (Grand Junction)
