πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Grand Junction today:

  1. A woman was shot Monday afternoon in the 300 Block of Zuni Drive. The Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) worked on this call with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office. The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital while officers found an adult male who was a suspect in the 2700 block of Laguna Drive. Orchard Mesa Middle School was ordered to shelter in place as the search for another suspect was on. (GJPD)
  2. Earlier that day, the GJPD was called to assist a 38-year-old β€œunresponsive male” in the 2800 block of North Avenue. He regained consciousness and was asked to leave the business he was in, which led to a refusal and an assault on the officers. After a medical evaluation, the man was arrested β€œon five charges following 2nd Degree Burglary of a building, Assault 2nd Degree on a Police Officer/firefighter, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and 3rd Degree Criminal Trespass.” (NBC)
  3. Another call the police department received took them to the 1300 block of N. 20th Street. Callers reported hearing β€œgunshots followed by a car speeding away.” When officers arrived, they noticed that several shots were fired into a home. Nobody was hurt, and the suspect drove off before the police got there. (Western Slope Now)
  4. On Sunday, it was Teresa DeRush’s memorial at Gunnison Avenue and 30 Road. We lost the singer and guitarist in April, and musicians from around Western Colorado came to attend a memorial that turned into an β€œemotional music festival hosting hundreds of friends.” How do you celebrate the life of a music icon? With a β€œlarge stage, complete with a house sound and a production crew.” (Kool 107.9)
  5. And, if you’re hitting the road this week, be aware that several projects are likely to affect your ability to get around. The annual chipseal program kicked off Sunday and will continue through Wednesday. Several stretches of G Road are affected. At 24 Road and G Road, you’ll also have a traffic roundabout project. (City of Grand Junction)
