π° Here are the top stories in Grand Junction today:
- A local man is suing Taco Del GNAR in Ridgeway, alleging that the food (a salad with ahi tuna) caused him to be a victim of the nationwide Cyclospora outbreak. βCyclospora (is) a parasite associated with eating fresh fruits and vegetables,β and a course of antibiotics is a typical treatment. βAccording to the Colorado Department of Health, at least 60 cases have been linked to Tacos del GNAR.β (PR Newswire)
- If youβre considering making big purchases, remember that beginning on July 1, βthe city will collect a 0.14 percent sales tax.β Approved during the municipal election, the funds will pay for a recreation center at Matchett Park. The city hopes to open this center by the winter of 2025. (Western Slope Now)
- Starting July 6, Market On Main is the event to attend every Thursday. Enjoy live music and dancing until Sept. 21. The tunes run the gamut from Big Band to Jazz, and thereβll also be dance groups. The opening acts will be the Mathias Mulumba Band & Company, along with Tim Veazey and Helen Highway. (Kool 1079)
- A shoutout to Dana Pogar! She saw the fire last week near Appleton Elementary and pulled over to see if she could assist. She heard a German shepherd barking and saw the caged dog that was surrounded by wood. Along with a bystander (whose name we donβt have), they saved the pet and returned it to its owner. The structure was, unfortunately, a total loss. (KJCT)
- Elam Construction is doing several resurfacing projects thatβll last until about October. Nighttime work will continue βon the I-70 Business Loop in Grand Junction and on CO 141 Business Loop in Clifton.β From Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., youβll encounter single closures and alternating traffic along one lane. (CO DOT)
