Community Helps Family Of Torrington Man Who Died After Being Hit By Car In Bristol

The accident happened on March 9, according to police.

The pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Bristol on Monday has died, and the community is raising money to help his family.

Police identified the victim as Jamison Clegg, 36, of Torrington.

Clegg died Wednesday due to blunt impact injuries from the accident, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The accident happened on Burlington Avenue around 8:21 a.m. Monday, and the victim was transported via Life Star helicopter to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

A GoFundMe campaign, “Support for a Loving Father's Family,” has been launched to help his loved ones.

“Tragically, his life was cut short, leaving his family facing an unimaginable loss,” the campaign states. “In the wake of his passing, his fiancée and their children are now left to navigate not only their grief but also the financial challenges that come with losing someone so important. The sudden loss has created a need for support with living costs and other essential expenses as they try to find their footing during this difficult time.”

As of Friday afternoon, the effort had raised over $38,000 through more than 300 donations.

The driver involved in the accident, a 73-year-old man, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Bristol police. Their investigation is ongoing.
