Duo Accused Of Using Shoplifting Device To Steal Hundreds Of Dollars Worth Of Merchandise: Greenwich Police
Police said they observed two people "displaying behavior consistent with a concealment-style retail theft."

GREENWICH, CT — Two people were arrested last Friday and accused of using a shoplifting device to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a business on Greenwich Avenue, according to police.
Pedro Torres, 44, and Nelcy Carrasco Cuellar, 35, both of Queens, N.Y., were each charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, illegal possession of a shoplifting device, and conspiracy to commit the illegal possession of a shoplifting device, their arrest reports note.
On Oct. 17 at approximately 4 p.m., plainclothes officers observed the arrestees "displaying behavior consistent with a concealment-style retail theft."

After Torres and Carrasco Cuellar were detained, police said an investigation found the two "acted in concert together to commit organized retail theft," and that they "utilized a shoplifting device inside the store to conceal their merchandise and defeat security sensors."
The two ended up stealing over $400, according to police, who did not specify where the theft took place. Patch has reached out to police for more information.

Torres and Carrasco Cuellar were both unable to post $100,000 bonds. They're scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 31.
