GREENWICH, CT — The Town of Greenwich’s fireworks shows that had been scheduled for Saturday, July 6 in Old Greenwich have been postponed to Sunday, July 7 “out of an abundance of caution,” due to potential thunderstorms, officials announced Friday.

“The decision was reached after the Office of the First Selectman held a joint meeting with the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Greenwich Police and Fire Departments and Emergency Management Director Joe Laucella on Friday morning,” officials wrote in a news release. “They reviewed the weather forecast for Saturday before making their decision.

“The postponement to Sunday night came after careful review and extensive consideration. The forecast is that there is the potential for thunderstorms throughout the day on Saturday and in the interests of public safety, the decision was made to wait a day.”
