West Hartford Athlete Earns College All-American Honors

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford resident and Hall High School graduate recently earned national honors in her chosen sport.

Bridget McGann, a 2022 graduate of Hall High School, recently completed four years starring in field hockey at Connecticut College in New London.

She concluded her college field hockey career by being named a third-team Division III All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

"Our coaching staff is so incredibly proud of Bridget for this tremendous honor," said Conn Colleges field hockey head coach Ryley van der Velde.

"Being named an All-American is a testament to Bridget's work ethic, determination, and special impact on this game. There is truly no one more deserving. Bridget's humility is inspiring and her resilience is unwavering.

"She has left an everlasting impact on our program, and she has set new expectations for what it means to play field hockey at Connecticut College."

The senior played in 58 career games and amassed 37 goals and eight assists for 82 points, ranking fourth all-time in program history in both goals and points.

McGann led the Camels in scoring in each of her four seasons and finished her career with 10 multi-goal games and seven game-winning goals, according to Conn College Athletics.

At Hall, McGann played four years of Field hockey, ice hockey and track and field and was a two-year captain of the ice and field hockey squads.

She also excelled in the classroom, earning a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference All-Academic Award in 2022.

She is an economics major who is also minoring in finance and is following in the footsteps of her father, Kevin McGrann, who is a Conn College graduate.
