Second Truck Hit Bicyclist Who Was Fatally Struck By Semi Near Tampa, Police Say
A 49-year-old Brandon man died on Tuesday after he was hit by a tractor-trailer near Tampa.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 49-year-old Brandon man who died after he was hit by a tractor-trailer this week was struck by a second truck before ultimately succumbing to his injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The semi, driven by a 53-year-old Tampa man, was heading north on U.S. 41 around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
At the same time, the bicyclist was trying to cross the highway when it entered the path of the semi and was hit by it, FHP said.

Following the initial collision, while the truck driver was attempting to help the bicyclist, police said an unknown dark-colored pickup truck traveling northbound also collided with the bicyclist and failed to stop at the crash scene.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
