Joliet 'Defendant Has Forced Her To Perform Sexual Acts Against Her Will In The Past': Prosecutors
The criminal complaint accuses Robinson of trying to strangle the victim at a Joliet hotel.

JOLIET, IL — On Thursday, Will County Judge Derek Ewanic ordered the pretrial detention for a Joliet man accused of beating a woman and trying to strangle her for at least 45 seconds during a violent encounter inside one of the hotel rooms at Joliet's Mainstay Suites.
Jail records indicate the Joliet police booked Robinson into custody late Tuesday night. Will County prosecutors charged the 31-year-old with aggravated domestic battery and three crimes of domestic battery.
The criminal complaint accuses Robinson of trying to strangle his victim, dragging her across the floor, pushing her and grabbing her body.

According to the prosecution's successful petition to deny pretrial release, Joliet police officers Fosen and Ibarra were sent to the Mainstay Suites on Norman Avenue at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday for a domestic battery in progress. The victim said she and Robinson have had a relationship for three years, but no prior domestic incidents, according to the petition.
She told the police that Robinson "was extremely upset that (she) did not want to have sex with him. The defendant began to pull (her) on top of his body, so she pushed him away," prosecutors said.

That's when prosecutors allege that Robinson began throwing objects inside their hotel room, breaking lamps and multiple glass cups inside Room 107. Prosecutors told Judge Ewanic that Robinson pushed the woman to the floor and slammed her body several times, trying to have her stop resisting his advances.
"The defendant wrapped both of his hands around her throat and applied pressure for approximately 30 to 45 seconds," prosecutors pointed out. Her "vision became dark, and she was unable to breathe during that time. The defendant also dragged her across the floor by her feet."
The victim suffered bruises to her left triceps, a large scratch across her stomach and redness/scratches on her throat.
"In filling out the Will County Domestic Violence form, the victim noted the defendant has forced her to perform sexual acts against her will in the past," the Will County State's Attorney's Office indicated.
Prosecutors also reminded Judge Ewanic that Robinson was previously charged with possession of a stolen gun in 2021, later he pleaded guilty to burglary.
"A history of possession of weapons is specifically a factor for the court to consider in the instant case based upon the charges," the petition stated.
Robinson comes from the Plainfield area, the 6300 block of Stafford Street.
