Traffic Delays Expected In Downtown Oswego During Christmas Walk

​Police encourage anyone not attending the Christmas Walk to consider alternate routes as streets will be more packed than usual.

OSWEGO, IL — Delays are expected on several downtown Oswego streets during the annual Christmas Walk planned for Dec. 1, police said.

Drivers should prepare for increased congestion and delays between 4-9 p.m. on Route 34 as well as on Madison and Washington streets near downtown due to the event that kicks off the holiday season in Oswego.

Featured activities will include performances by local choirs and dance troupes, visits with Santa's reindeer, live ice sculpting and an inflatable sled hill. With Santa making an appearance, children are encouraged to bring their wish list and visit Kris Kringle at his North Pole home away from home.

Parking for the event will be available in the lot under The Reserve at Hudson Crossing, in the Harrison Street lot, at Village Hall, and on streets in and around downtown. Locals will also have the option to take a shuttle bus service, which will operate from the north parking lot of Oswego High School to Byline Bank on Monroe Street.
