When students returned to Northwestern State University this semester, they found a completely refreshed dining experience waiting for them. The fully renovated Iberville Dining Hall reopened in time for the start of the academic year, and the brand-new Alost Café has since joined the lineup, bringing more choice, convenience, and energy to campus dining.

Iberville Dining Hall: A Fresh Space Designed for Connection

The revitalized Iberville Dining Hall opened in August with a modern design, improved flow, and upgraded equipment that enhances both food quality and presentation. The layout now includes flexible seating areas that support everyday dining as well as special events and campus gatherings.

“The feedback has been great so far, and I want our students to know it’s only the beginning,” said Executive Chef Jimier Anderson. “We still have a few surprises in store for Iberville, and we can’t wait to show them.”

At the heart of the renovation is Sodexo’s One&All program, an inclusive dining model designed to ensure everyone feels welcome and can find food that fits their needs and preferences. From allergen-friendly options in the Simple Zone to the interactive U-Cook station where students can prepare their own meals, the program encourages variety and choice.

“The One&All program gives our Demons more flexibility and freedom,” said Anderson. “With updated menus and new stations, students have more opportunities to personalize their dining experience and explore new foods.”

Alost Café: Fast, Flexible, and Tech-Forward

The newly opened Alost Café, located in the university’s newest academic building, has quickly become a popular stop for students and faculty looking for something quick between classes. The café features sandwiches, fresh fruit, granola bars, chips, candy, and cold beverages—ideal for busy schedules.

“This café fits the pace of campus life,” said Kassadi Monica, General Manager. “Alost Hall is becoming a center for learning and activity, and the café adds a convenient option for students and staff who need something on the go.”

In addition to grab-and-go items, the café includes a Micro Market for self-service snacks and beverages. Later this spring, it will introduce Mashgin technology—an AI-powered, touchless checkout system that instantly scans multiple items at once. “It’s a small innovation that saves time and improves the overall guest experience,” Monica said.

A Dining Program That Reflects Campus Life

The transformation of Iberville Dining Hall and the addition of Alost Café mark a new chapter for campus dining at Northwestern. Together, they bring fresh energy, improved functionality, and a stronger sense of community to the student experience.

“The renovation of Iberville Dining Hall, along with the addition of Alost Café, has truly enhanced the campus dining experience,” said Jennifer Kelly, Executive Director of University Affairs. “Iberville’s updated design and expanded menu better serve our students, faculty, staff, and visitors, while Alost Café adds a convenient and energetic gathering spot to Alost Hall.”

With both spaces now open and thriving, Northwestern Dining by Sodexo continues to create welcoming environments that reflect the way students live, learn, and connect.
