North Shore Man Charged In Lynnfield Man's Killing In May

LYNNFIELD, MA — A Middleton man was to face murder charges in Peabody District Court on Tuesday in the May killing of a Lynnfield man.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said an arrest was made in the death of Timothy O'Neil, 55, of Lynnfield early Tuesday morning.

Essex DA Paul Tucker's Office said John Kosta, 53, of Middleton was to be arraigned for the murder.

Kosta was taken into custody early Tuesday morning by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to Tucker's office, with assistance from the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Tucker said O'Neil was found suffering from what the police called "trauma" at a home on Lookout Terrace in Lynnfield at about 8:30 p.m. on May 9.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said at the time that they did not believe there was a wider threat to the public.
