While flushing takes place, borough officials said residents may notice lower water pressure and a slight discoloration of the water.

FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — Fall hydrant flushing is set to begin in Freehold Borough on Wednesday, Mayor Kevin Kane recently announced.
The flushing will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until all flushing has been completed, Kane said.
According to borough officials, flushing is done twice per year in order to remove sediment that may accumulate in the distribution system. This helps maintain the system and ensure each hydrant works efficiently.
