Freehold Borough To Offer Free Flu Shots

FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — The Freehold Area Health Department will be hosting two vaccine clinics for the community in Freehold Borough this flu season.

The first vaccine clinic will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 10-11:30 a.m. The second clinic is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Both vaccine clinics will take place in Borough Hall at 30 Mechanic Street, Freehold.

Walk-ins for the clinics are welcome and no registration or insurance is required, borough officials said. If you do have insurance, please bring your card.

For the 2025-26 flu season, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending that everyone six months old and older (with rare exceptions) receive a yearly flu vaccine, with trivalent (three-component) vaccines being used in the U.S., officials said.

This includes single-dose formulations that are free of thimerosal as a preservative for children, pregnant women and adults.

All trivalent vaccines protect against three different flu viruses, officials said:

  • Influenza A (H1N1)
  • Influenza A (H3N2)
  • B/Victoria Virus
