Major Sports Retailer Sets Grand Opening Weekend Event In Freehold

FREEHOLD, NJ — A major sports retailer is set to host its grand opening weekend event at the Freehold Raceway Mall at the end of October.

From Friday, Oct. 31, through Sunday, Nov. 2, DICK’s House of Sport will celebrate its grand opening weekend with deals, celebrity appearances and more for attendees.

Deals offered at the event will include:

• A DSG Soccer Ball Giveaway for the first 100 kids in line from Friday through Sunday
• A CALIA Stanley 30 oz. Quencher Giveaway for the first 300 guests in-store from Friday through Sunday
• A Mystery Gift Card for the first 100 adults in line each morning, with a chance to win the $500 gift card.
• $10 reward for every $100 spent at Freehold Raceway Mall from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2
• All cardholders earn 10% back on qualified purchases at DICK’s House of Sport brands through Jan. 10. Must have a valid ScoreCard account to earn points.

In addition to deals offered at the grand opening, guests will also be able to enjoy celebrity athlete appearances from a former New York Yankees player and a current New York Yankees player:

• Bernie Williams: Saturday, Nov. 1 (3-4:30 p.m.)
• Jazz Chisholm Jr.: Sunday, Nov. 2 (12-1:30 p.m.)

Wristbands will be required to meet athletes in attendance and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at store open on the day of the event only.

There will be a limited quantity of wristbands and a limit of one wristband per person, as well as one autograph per wristband. Attendees must have a wristband and be in the Special Appearance Line before the start of the appearance to receive an autograph.

Celebrities in attendance will only sign player cards provided by DICK’s Sporting Goods, and no outside items will be permitted for signature.

Times and appearances may be subject to change without notice, store officials said.

“Sports, style + serious vibes. Dick’s Sporting Goods House of Sport is nearly here at Freehold Raceway Mall + we’re READY,” the mall said in an online post.

Described as the “destination for sport,” DICK’s House of Sport offers a variety of sports gear and apparel, as well as interactive features such as a climbing wall, multi-sport cage, golf pro shop and more.

News of the new sports retailer joining Freehold Raceway Mall came in Summer 2024, and is just one of many new shops and dining locations to join the mall in recent months.

Alongside DICK’s House of Sport, the mall has also welcomed an indoor playground, a Swiss chocolate manufacturer, a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and more, alongside some new expansions and redesigns of existing retailers.
