Van Collides With Bear On NJ Highway, 4 Hospitalized

Two other vehicles hit the bear as it wandered onto the major North Jersey Highway, police said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A van carrying 12 passengers collided with a bear in Morris County, injuring four people, according to police.

On Monday night, just before 9 p.m., state police responded to a report of a car accident on the eastbound side of I-80, near milepost 27.2 in Roxbury Township.

Police found that a Ford van with a dozen passengers had crashed into a bear that was in the road, officials said.

The crash left four of the riders injured, and they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.

Police added that two more cars hit the bear soon after, but no injuries were reported.

The condition of the bear is not known at this time, and the collisions are under investigation.
