2 Drivers, Dog, Killed In North Jersey Car Wreck

The accident prompted a delayed opening for a nearby school Monday morning.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Two men and a dog were killed in a four-car wreck in Passaic County this weekend, according to officials

Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, four cars collided on Ringwood Avenue in front of Haskell Elementary School in Wanaque, Wanaque Fire Chief Mark Olivieri confirmed with Patch.

Olivieri also confirmed that two drivers and a dog were killed in the wreck.

Prosecutors said that the cars involved were a Honda Accord, Lexus GS-350, Subaru Legacy, and BMW 2.

The Honda Accord driver, a 26-year-old Wanaque man, and the driver of the Lexus GS-350, a 63-year-old New York man, were the two victims who died from the crash, prosecutors said.

A report from PIX11 News said that a pet carrier was seen in the wrecked Lexus, indicating the dog may have been a passenger in the New York man's car.

The report added that two of the cars involved were “smashed almost beyond recognition."

The cause of the wreck is not yet clear, and the crash remains under investigation.
