North Jersey Man Filmed Minor’s Sex Assault, Police Say

Authorities said he assaulted the teen on "several occasions" in Passaic County.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A 21-year-old Bergen County man sexually assaulting a teenager and filmed it, according to authorities.

Torin W. Halvorsen, from South Hackensack, was arrested Wednesday and officials say he sexually assaulted a 13 to 15-year-old on “several occasions," in September 2024 in Prospect Park.

He recorded one of the sexual encounters with the teen with a phone, police said.

Halvorsen is charged with first and third-degree endangering the welfare of children, sexual assault, luring, and possession of child sexual abuse materials.

He is currently being held in Bergen County Jail. If convicted, Halvorsen will face several years in prison and will be subject to Megan’s Law registration requirements and parole supervision for life.
