Wayne Resident, Nurse, Honored For Organ Donor Advocacy

A spokesperson said the honoree demonstrates "the highest standards of nursing practice."

WAYNE, NJ — A nurse from Wayne Township has been awarded for her “outstanding advocacy” towards organ donors and their families.

Linda Naoum, an RN at the Morristown Medical Center, was presented with the Sunflower Award by the NJ Sharing Network, a nonprofit organization responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for transplant across the state.

The Sunflower Award is given to medical workers who “go above and beyond in their professional roles while demonstrating compassion, collaboration, and a true commitment to excellence.”

“I am truly humbled to receive this award,” Naoum said. “It is a privilege to care for patients and support families during some of their most difficult moments. I am also grateful to play a role in honoring the wishes of organ and tissue donors, which brings hope and healing to others.”

According to NJ Share Network, Naoum has displayed “the highest standards of nursing practice” as a dedicated team member who establishes a professional and compassionate rapport with family members.

During a recent organ donation, Naoum provided unwavering support for a grieving family, handling the process with “dignity and respect.” She even offered support during nonworking hours, a spokesperson said.

“Linda has a remarkable ability to connect with families and colleagues alike,” said Jacqueline Nuzzi, Hospital Development Manager at NJ Sharing Network. “Her compassion shines through in every interaction.”
