Child In Car When NJ Driver Arrested For Felony DWI On I-87 In Ardsley: NYSP

ARDSLEY, NY ā A New Jersey man was arrested in the Village of Ardsley for potentially putting the life of a child at risk, according to state police.
On Sunday, around 2:21 p.m., New York State Police said that a trooper from Troop T stopped a 2025 Mazda CX-9 speeding northbound on I-87, in the Village of Ardsley.
According to state police, while speaking with the driver, 39-year-old Jose Vargas, of New Jersey, the trooper noticed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, diminished reflexes, and the odor of alcohol.

The trooper also found a child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Vargas was arrested and taken for processing at the SP barracks in Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was found to be 0.15 percent, police said.

He was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, speeding, and other vehicle/traffic violations.
Vargas was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Ardsley Court on September 29.
