Across Oregon, 2024 has been a big year, and that’s true for us at Comcast as well. We’ve expanded our network to new areas, boosted speeds for Xfinity internet customers, engaged more local businesses, and partnered with our community to bridge the digital divide, all with a goal of connecting customers to what they love. Read on for some of the highlights from an impactful 2024:

Expanding Our Reliable, Fast and Secure Network in Oregon

Through network expansions, this year we brought Xfinity and Comcast Business services to thousands more residents and businesses in Oregon for the first time. Our expansion projects in Eagle Creek, Estacada, Silverton, Sublimity and more have enhanced the local digital infrastructure, promoted economic growth, and positioned residents and local businesses for success in an increasingly digital world.

Some of these projects in Oregon include:

  • Our network construction teams completed their work in April 2024 to build the Xfinity network in Eagle Creek and Estacada. More than 3,200 homes and business in Eagle Creek and Estacada now have access the Xfinity network.
  • We’re expanding our next-generation Xfinity network to Sublimity, Oregon. The expansion will bring multi-gig speeds and unmatched reliability to over 1,000 homes and businesses. Announced by the city, this big investment underscores our commitment to enhancing the digital landscape of Sublimity.
  • Our network construction teams completed their work in April 2024 to build the Xfinity network in Silverton. More than 4,500 homes and business in Silverton now have access the Xfinity network and we’re continuing to build to serve more local neighborhoods.

We’ve invested $587.5 million in the last three years to expand and enhance our network in Oregon.

Enhancing the Value and Innovation of Our Products

In 2024, we added to our mobile, Internet, and entertainment offerings with innovative features and options.

Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile continue to offer some of the lowest prices on the market with residential customers saving up to 50% on their wireless bill when they switch from β€œthe Big Three.” In addition to savings, this year we introduced WiFi Boost, which delivers speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second when customers connect to millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots.

We launched Xfinity StreamSaver, a streaming bundle of Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ that delivers savings of over 30% a year. By bringing these premium streaming services together for the first time, Xfinity is making it easy for customers to enjoy exceptional entertainment, including thousands of hours of live sports, from the best streaming apps at an unparalleled value.

We also introduced NOW, a brand of quality, low-cost Internet, mobile, and streaming TV products that customers can purchase month-to-month, whenever they want. Backed by the Xfinity network, NOW products feature all-in pricing, no contracts or credit checks.

With new Xfinity Store openings in Keizer and Tigard and a re-opening in Salem, there are even more places to meet our team of local experts to ask questions and experience our products and services.

Connecting Local Businesses

For local businesses, Comcast Business offers a suite of connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless and managed solutions to help organizations of all sizes achieve their business goals. We shared the stories of local businesses like 24/7 Pet Care provider DoveLewis this year as they used solutions from Comcast Business to drive business growth.

Building a Future of Unlimited Possibilities in Our Communities

There are numerous organizations throughout Oregon working hard to increase Internet adoption and digital skills in our communities. Through Project UP, our $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity, we’ve partnered with several to help build a future of unlimited possibilities, including:

  • We teamed up with U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist, Jackie Joyner-Kersee to surprise kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track and Field in Eugene. Kersee spoke to the students about going the distance and reaching new heights – helping inspire the next generation to overcome obstacles and achieve their own goals.
  • In a significant move to enhance digital literacy and equity, the City of Portland, in collaboration with Comcast and NTEN, announced the selection of five fellows for the 2024 Portland Digital Equity Service Corps (DESC). Each fellow will receive up to $5,000 to develop or expand sustainable digital literacy programs within their organizations.

Recognizing Our People

Each milestone this year – from expanding our network to opening new stores and launching products and features – is made possible by our dedicated team members. Those like:

  • Ted Noble, a 19-year Comcaster and Network Maintenance Supervisor in the Pacific Northwest Region. He grew up in Eagle Creek, Oregon, attended Estacada High School, and now works on the team installing Xfinity and Comcast Business services in the Eagle Creek/Estacada area.
  • Katrina Keasler, a dedicated and dynamic manager of our Happy Valley Xfinity store. As a Navy veteran, Katrina brings a unique perspective to her role at Comcast, where she has worked for the past six years. Working in retail allows Katrina to bring her military experience, particularly her relentlessness and positivity, into her role as a store manager. Her time at Comcast has been transformative, not just professionally but personally.
  • Sonja Muchen, Senior Analyst, Solution Design, and one of Comcast’s most active volunteers in the Pacific Northwest region. Sonja has been a Comcaster for 14 years, and her passion for volunteering has only grown over time. She has participated in a variety of Comcast volunteer events, from beautification projects and kit building to letter-writing campaigns and more.

Our employees also volunteered in their communities with Team UP, our national employee volunteer program. Our Team UP volunteers helped celebrate the community at The Arc of Lane County Carnival, supported Lemonade Day, a youth entrepreneurial competition operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Portland Metro, and lent a hand in numerous other community projects.

Looking Ahead

We’re hard at work preparing to bring customers even more of what they love in 2025.
