A major storm is moving toward the Delaware Valley and could bring significant impacts to the region during Halloween week, potentially interrupting holiday plans, according to forecasters.

Forecasters are tracking a tropical storm in the Caribbean that will begin heading north early next week, and an expected dip in the jet stream along the Atlantic seaboard that it could collide with.

The exact track of the tropical storm will determine whether or not the mid-Atlantic region receives a smattering of rain over the course of a few days, or a more major weather event, forecasters said.

"The jet stream dip can generate a new storm, or perhaps a potent nor'easter, along the Atlantic coast toward the end of October," Accuweather said. "But even a less-intense coastal storm, when combined with (the tropical storm) offshore, will stir up additional winds and rough seas."

The timing for the storm, should it hit, will likely bring impacts to the Philly area beginning on Tuesday, and then continue through the end of the week, forecasters said.

It in the Poconos, it could bring the first real snow of the season, and in general weather will be more typical of December than late October.
