Lansdale Names Ryan Devlin New Acting Chief Of Police
Longtime chief Michael Trail has left to lead the Norristown police force.

LANSDALE, PA — The borough of Lansdale has named long time officer Ryan Nevlin as the acting chief of police following the departure of Chief Michael Trail to lead the Norristown Police Department.
The borough has also begun its search for a permanent replacement.
Devlin, a native of Lansdale, has began his career in the force in Lansdale and 1996 and has steadily risen through the ranks, earning promotion to lieutenant in 2018.

He is also the commander of the Montgomery County SWAT Central Team.
"His years of experience, proven leadership, and lifelong connection to the Lansdale community will ensure a smooth and seamless transition," the department said in a statement. "Chief Devlin’s steady hand and deep commitment to both his officers and residents will continue to move the department forward."

As lieutenant, Devlin has led the department's effort to be accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.
Trail had served as the chief of police in Lansdale since 2017 after a 23 year career in the borough.
