Abdel-Hamid was headed south on Philmont when he struck the other vehicle, which was attempting to turn left into a nearby parking lot, authorities said.

Both vehicles were "disabled" due to the crash, suffering heavy damage, but Abdel-Hamid still continued to limp his vehicle through the intersection about a quarter mile away to a parking lot, police said.
