Brown University Suspected Mass Shooter Found Dead By Suicide In NH Storage Unit
The suspected killer was identified as Claudio Neves Valente and was eyed in the slaying of an MIT professor.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The man charged with killing two Brown University students and injured eight others was found dead — and may have a link to the slaying of an M.I.T. professor two days later — but questions linger.
"Even though the suspect was found dead, our work is not done," said FBI Boston Special Agent in Charge Ted Docks, pointing out the killer's motive remains unknown.
Officials identified the killer as Claudio Neves Valente, a 48-year-old former Brown student and Portugese national living in Miami.

Valente was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a Salem, New Hampshire, storage unit by an FBI SWAT team, officials said.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said there was a satchel and two firearms in the unit along with Valente's body.

An arrest warrant charging Valente with two counts of murder and 23 felony counts of assault and felony firearms offenses had been issued Thursday, according to the attorney general's office.
Authorities also investigated potential connections between Valente and M.I.T professor Nuno Loureiro's killing Monday.
The U.S. Attorney's Office considered the link solid, disseminating a press release titled, "U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, FBI, and ATF Announce Death of the Brown University and MIT Professor Shooter."
Loureiro was found fatally shot in his Brookline, Massachusetts, home.
The hunt for the mass shooter stretched to its sixth day and spread to Massachusetts.
The North Attleboro, Massachusetts, police chief confirmed that investigators on the Brown University case had been in his town too.
"As you are likely aware, there was a shooting at Brown University over the weekend," North Attleboro Police Chief Richard McQuade said in a media release.

Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez has said investigators are ready to go far afield to pursue leads in the investigation.
"We're all over the place," Perez said. "If a tip comes in and it needs us to go down to Connecticut, we're going down to Connecticut. If a tip comes in and tells us that we got to go to Boston, then we're going to Boston.
Police release video Monday of a person of interest caught on video casing the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building, where the shooter killed two and injured at least eight others hours before the Saturday afternoon gun attack, said Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez.

Then, on Wednesday, police released images of the second person they say was "in proximity of the (original) person of interest."
