The New Pleasant Valley String Band is one of Colorado’s premier live traditional Square Dance bands. Pulling repertoire from the Missouri Ozark square dance tradition, dancers will be carried through the evening with square dances, waltzes, two-steps and more. The band has played a major role in organizing CROMA (Central Rockies Old-Time Music Association) and its festival “The Rocky Mountain Old-Time Music Festival. Band members have performed for dances and taught old-time music across the country.
Dance caller, Larry Edelman, has taught and called traditional square dances for more than 40 years, delighting both novice and veteran dancers with his humor, enthusiasm, skillful teaching, knowledge of dance history, unique repertoire, and colorful calling. About the Artist
Duncan Coker is an unrepentant balladeer from the Colorado piedmont, with a voice that carries and songs that tell stories. Solo or with his band Flattop Rider, he brings a western swagger that lands like leather boots on barnwood and brass.
Mixing western folk rock and red dirt country, Coker’s music channels the wide-open spirit of the American West. Since releasing their debut album in 2024, he and his band have been turning heads — opening for national touring acts and packing out clubs and festivals across the front range. With features on KRFC (Fort Collins), KGNU (Boulder), and Local 303 (Denver), they’ve staked their claim as one of the freshest voices in western roots music. Old Crow Medicine Show got their start busking on street corners in 1998, from New York state and up through Canada, winning audiences along the way with their boundless energy and spirit. Joe Jackson was born on August 11 1954 in Burton-on-Trent, England, but grew up in the South Coast naval port city of Portsmouth
At age 16 Joe played his first paying gig, as pianist in a pub next door to a glue factory just outside of Portsmouth. This was followed by other pub gigs (in which he was often trying to entertain crowds of drunken, bottle-throwing sailors) and accompanying a bouzouki player in a Greek restaurant.
At age 18 Joe won a scholarship to study Composition, Piano, and Percussion at London's Royal Academy of Music.
By 1978 Joe was living in London and hawking an album-length demo, with his own band (Graham Maby, Bass; Dave Houghton, Drums; Gary Sanford, Guitar) standing by. That demo - already called Look Sharp - eventually found its way to American producer David Kershenbaum, who was in London in the capacity of talent scout for A&amp;M Records. Joe was immediately signed and Look Sharp more professionally re-recorded in August '78. The first Blind Pilot album in eight years, In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain emerged from a period of artistic crisis and the radical transformation of their creative ecosystem. “I went through a few years where I wasn’t able to write—I tried therapy, I read books on writer’s block, I went on writing trips, but nothing was helping,” says Israel Nebeker, frontman for the Oregon-bred band. After stepping back and reimagining his songwriting approach, Nebeker challenged himself to write an entire album in a month, then brought those songs to his bandmates with a newfound sense of receptivity. “I told myself that whatever songs came through in that month would be for the love of the band and music we make together,” says Nebeker. “Instead of being controlling in the studio, I wanted to let the songs live and breathe with the band as an entity. By the time we finished, it was the most joy we’d ever had in making an album together.”
Produced by Josh Kaufman (The Hold Steady, David Wax Museum), In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain brings a potent new energy to the elegantly composed folk/indie-rock of past LPs like 2016’s And Then Like Lions. In a profound step forward for the band—whose lineup also includes drummer/co-founder Ryan Dobrowski, bassist Luke Ydstie, and multi-instrumentalist Kati Claborn—Blind Pilot’s fourth full-length unfolds with an exquisite fluidity, fully harnessing the undeniable chemistry. “In the past we’ve always been very serious and intentional about the process, but Josh often encouraged us to throw away our preconceived notions of what the songs were supposed to be,” says Nebeker. “So much of the album came from all of us playing live together, listening to each other and trusting our instincts, and really getting to the core of the song,” Dobrowski adds. The result: the most revelatory expression yet of Blind Pilot’s palpable reverence for music as a connective force.
While Blind Pilot intends to tour principally as a quartet in support of the record, the album includes contributions from longtime trumpeter/keyboardist Dave Jorgensen and vibraphonist Ian Krist. In bringing the album to life, the band worked with a rich palette of instrumentation, handling each track with equal parts extraordinary care and unbridled spontaneity. For both Dobrowski and Nebeker—who formed an early iteration of the band as college students in the mid-aughts—those moments of ineffably closeness serve as the lifeblood of Blind Pilot. “For me making this album felt like celebrating being together and still feeling that deep connection that’s been a throughline for our entire adult lives,” Dobrowski says. “One of my very favorite things about music is the way it not only connects us as bandmates, but allows us to connect to an audience—and then within that audience, people end up connecting with each other. It’s this powerful thing that’s unlike anything else, and in a way it’s kind of like magic.”

For over a decade, John Craigie has made music that brings people in, not with spectacle but with sincerity and songs that feel like conversations.
His new album I Swam Here, out February 6, 2026 on Zabriskie Point Records, was written and produced by Craigie and recorded between New Orleans and Astoria. Seven tracks were cut at Deslonde St Studios with musicians handpicked by Sam Doores of The Deslondes, including Howe Pearson, Max Bien Khan, Jonny Campos, and a guest appearance from Desiree Cannon. Longtime collaborator Anna Moss appears across much of the record. The remaining tracks were finished at the Rope Room in Astoria, carrying over the same spirit and palette. The cover art, painted by Brittany Schall, nods to the design of mid century samba and jazz records.
The album’s singles trace the path of its making. “Fire Season,” engineered by Bart Budwig, was one of the first songs written and features Cooper Trail, Nevada Sowle, Luke Ydstie, and Jamie Greenan. “Dry Land” was reworked in Astoria after early New Orleans sessions didn’t feel right. “Edna Strange,” inspired by Marty Robbins, is the only track where Craigie plays steel string acoustic, with Max Bien Khan on nylon string leads and a trio vocal arrangement in place of Moss’s harmonies.

The Wallflowers will mark the 30th anniversary of their landmark album Bringing Down the Horse with a nationwide U.S. tour kicking off April 17, 2026. The band will perform their classic album in its entirety, in sequence. The tour will also include a performance at Stagecoach, the world’s largest country music festival.
Originally released on May 21, 1996, Bringing Down the Horse was a critical and commercial triumph. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified quadruple platinum, cementing the band’s place in ‘90s rock history.
The LP yielded four hit singles: •“6th Avenue Heartache” – Two Grammy nominations (1997) •“One Headlight” – Reached #1 on the Billboard singles chart, winning two Grammy Awards (1998). The songranked #58 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Pop Songs” •“The Difference” – Grammy nomination (1998) • “Three Marlenas” – Released as the album’s final single in October 1997
Influenced by a slew of first-generation American songwriters including The Band and Tom Petty &amp; the Heartbreakers, The Wallflowers will also pay tribute on the upcoming tour to the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty &amp; the Heartbreakers’ by playing Petty’s 1982 album Long After Dark in its entirety and in sequence as well.
Jakob Dylan, the band’s chief songwriter, remains a vital performer in American rock music. As part of three decades of work, in 2002, he inducted Tom Petty into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. In 2018, he performed in the critically acclaimed documentary Echo in the Canyon, collaborating with artists ranging from Neil Young and Eric Clapton to Beck, Cat Power, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor.
Dylan also contributed songs to several soundtracks, including The Wallflowers' cover of "Heroes" for the 1998 Godzilla film soundtrack and "Arms of a Ghost" to television series, NCIS Los Angeles and "Nothing But the Whole Wide World" to Friday Night Lights. Recorded by GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer and longtime collaborator Stuart Sikes (Loretta Lynn, The White Stripes) at Austin, TX’s Church House Studios with backing by Dirty Delta Blues – the all-star supergroup assembled for the world tour that followed The Greatest comprising guitarist Judah Bauer (The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), keyboardist Gregg Foreman (The Delta 72, Jesse Malin), bassist Erik Paparozzi (Lizard Music), and drummer Jim White (Dirty Three, Hard Quartet) – Redux includes a brand new re-recording of James Brown’s chart-topping classic, “Try Me,” premiering everywhere today. The track was among those first recorded by the singer-songwriter otherwise known as Chan Marshall during the original sessions that produced The Greatest but never completed.

Now in the seventh decade of his professional life, Herbie Hancock remains where he has always been: at the forefront of world culture, technology, business and music. Herbie Hancock has been an integral part of every popular music movement since the 1960's. As a member of the Miles Davis Quintet that pioneered a groundbreaking sound in jazz, he also developed new approaches on his own recordings, followed by his work in the 70s -- with record-breaking albums such as "Headhunters" -- that combined electric jazz with funk and rock in an innovative style that continues to influence contemporary music. "Rockit" and "Future Shock" marked Hancock's foray into electronic dance sounds; during the same period he also continued to work in an acoustic setting with V.S.O.P.
Hancock received an Academy Award for his Round Midnight film score and 14 Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year for "River: The Joni Letters," and two 2011 Grammy Awards for the globally collaborative CD, "The Imagine Project."
Hancock serves as Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and as Institute Chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. In 2011 Hancock was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and in December of 2013, received a Kennedy Center Honor. Taj Mahal doesn't wait for permission. If a sound intrigues him, he sets out to make it. If origins mystify him, he moves to trace them. If rules get in his way, he unapologetically breaks them. To Taj, convention means nothing, but traditions are holy. He has pushed music and culture forward, all while looking lovingly back.
"I just want to be able to make the music that I'm hearing come to me -- and that's what I did," Taj says. The 82-year-old is home in Berkeley, reflecting on six + decades of music making. "When I say, 'I did,' I'm not coming from the ego. The music comes from somewhere. You're just the conduit it comes through.
You're there to receive the gift."
Taj is a towering musical figure -- a legend who transcended the blues not by leaving them behind, but by revealing their magnificent scope to the world. "The blues is bigger than most people think," he says. "You could hear Mozart play the blues. It might be more like a lament. It might be more melancholy. But I'm going to tell you: the blues is in there."
If anyone knows where to find the blues, it's Taj. A brilliant artist with a musicologist's mind, he has pursued and elevated the roots of beloved sounds with boundless devotion and skill. Then, as he traced origins to the American South, the Caribbean, Africa, and elsewhere, he created entirely new sounds, over and over again. As a result, he's not only a god to rock-and-roll icons such as Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones, but also a hero to ambitious artists toiling in obscurity who are determined to combine sounds that have heretofore been ostracized from one another. No one is as simultaneously traditional and avant-garde.
Quantifying Taj's significance is impossible, but people try anyway. A 2022 Grammy win for 'Get On Board' for his collaboration with Ry Cooder, then a trip with his Sextet to Leon Russell's Church Studio in Tulsa, OK to record 'Swingin' Live at the Church Studio in Tulsa,' yet another Grammy win, brought his Grammy tally to five wins and 16 nominations, and underscored his undiminished relevance more than 50 years after his solo debut. Blues Hall of Fame membership, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, 2025 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree and other honors punctuate his resumé. He appreciates the accolades, but his motivation lies elsewhere. "It's not a hunger, not a lust or even a thirst," Taj says of what drives him. "It's just more knowledge of self -- to realize that almost everything is right here. We're so used to looking outside of ourselves for things, and it's right here."
Taj's exploration of music began as an exploration of self. He was born in 1942 in Harlem to musical parents -- his father was a jazz pianist with Caribbean roots; mother was a gospel-singing schoolteacher from South Carolina -- who cultivated an appreciation for both personal history and the arts in their son. "I was raised really conscious of my African roots," Taj says. "So I was trying to find out: where does what we do here connect to what we left there?" In the early 1950s, his family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts -- a microcosmic melting pot for immigrants from across the globe: the Caribbean, the American South, Europe, the Mediterranean, Syria, Lebanon. "Music was everywhere," he says. "Things were different in those days. There weren't a lot of places that African Americans had to go out to entertain themselves. So people did a lot of entertaining in their homes. Friday or Saturday night, you'd move the furniture, mop and wax the floor, and set things up so people could pop over and hear all the music." Musicians and friends from around the world passed through, ate home-cooked feasts, and led neighborhood jam sessions and dance parties in cozy living rooms.
From the beginning, Taj found the blues magnetic, even as most artists around him in the Northeast were exploring other sounds. "I could hear little strains of the blues coming through -- you could feel that energy in the music that was being played," he says. "I could also feel that energy of the blues inside myself." Piano lessons didn't stick -- "I'd already heard what I wanted to play" - so when a blues guitarist from North Carolina moved in next door, Taj found an early mentor and was off.
For college, Taj attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He graduated after studying agriculture and animal husbandry. "I knew I'd like to connect myself to something on this planet that's meaningful," he says. "That's why I was interested in agriculture and music. Those were the two things that I recognized even as a very young child that people are never going to do without."
