Liberty Dining Cooks for 500 Volunteers at United Way’s Day of Caring

Meal prep for more than 500 volunteers participating in the United Way of Central Virginia's annual Day of Caring

Sodexo chefs and managers at Liberty University stepped out of the kitchen and into the community last Wednesday, preparing meals for more than 500 volunteers participating in the United Way of Central Virginia’s annual Day of Caring.

The event, held May 21, brought volunteers together to support local nonprofit projects throughout Lynchburg. Sodexo’s team, led by Catering Director Donna Casalenuovo, provided a full lunch spread that included roasted chicken quarters, cucumber and tomato salad, baked beans, baked mac and cheese, and assorted brownies and blondies.

“Day of Caring is one of my favorite days because it gives our entire management team a chance to get to know each other and our community better, all the while supporting a great cause,” Casalenuovo said. “This year was even more special because we were able to expand on previous menus and serve something that enabled us to be in the forefront of the action a bit more.”
