Liberty Dining Helps Parents Send Love with Revamped Online Gift Shop

Liberty Dining collaborated with its bake shop and Resident Dining Manager to revitalize gift shop offerings

As the new academic year kicks off, Liberty Dining has introduced exciting updates to its online gift shop, allowing parents to send love and support to their students from afar. This summer, Liberty Dining collaborated with its bake shop and Resident Dining Manager to revitalize gift shop offerings, creating a fun and thoughtful way for parents to connect with their students throughout the year.

The revamped gift shop features a wide array of baked goods, including cookies, brownies, and gluten-free options, along with special care packages designed for all occasions. Parents can choose from several packages, such as:

  • Cookie Box: Available in half or full dozen, with options like chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, and carnival cookies.
  • Gluten-Free Cookie Box: Choices include chocolate chip, peanut butter, or sugar cookies, available in half or full dozen.
  • Sweet Treats Box: Includes a variety of treats like brownies, blondies, lemon bars, or carmelitas.
  • Gluten-Free Sweet Treats Box: Offers brownies, blondies, or lemon bars in half or full dozen.
  • Gluten-Free Chocolate Torte: A decadent dessert with four slices of rich chocolate torte.

In addition to these tasty treats, Liberty Dining offers a Care Package packed with a mix of sweet and salty snacks, drinks, and the option to add cookies or brownies—including gluten-free versions. For students feeling under the weather, the Get Well Package includes essentials like chicken noodle soup, disinfectant, and electrolyte drinks to help them recover.

One of the standout offerings this fall is the launch of subscription boxes, which provide a rotating selection of baked goods, snacks, Liberty swag, and a retail coupon. The first round of subscription boxes will be available for pickup on September 6, bringing even more excitement to students.

To spread the word, Liberty Dining advertised the gift shop during Welcome Week, distributing take-home menus with QR codes for parents to easily access the shop from home. Parents expressed deep appreciation for the service, with many finding comfort in knowing they could stay connected with their students through personalized treats. One parent shared, “We just set up an account and placed our first order. Thank you SO MUCH for offering this option to LU families!!!”

Another parent shared their positive experience, writing, “My son picked up the orders and said the individuals he dealt with were very personable and great to work with. Thank you all!!”

Liberty Dining has also enhanced communication by sending a dedicated email to parents about the gift shop, which resulted in more than 60 orders overnight and record sales since August 1. The overwhelming response exceeded expectations, with many parents commenting on how the gift shop provides a heartfelt way to stay close to their students.

One particularly touching aspect of the gift shop is the handwritten notes sent along with the care packages. Parents, grandparents, and loved ones have taken the opportunity to write personalized messages, from birthday wishes to words of encouragement. Seeing the joy on students' faces when they pick up their packages is a highlight for the Liberty Dining team.

In addition to the gift shop, Liberty Dining continues its tradition of providing personal 6-inch birthday cakes to every student on campus, in collaboration with the university. This gesture has been met with enthusiasm from parents, who are relieved to know their child’s special day will be celebrated.

As Liberty Dining looks forward to expanding its menu offerings, it remains dedicated to helping parents send love and support to their students, creating lasting memories and fostering connections from home to campus.
