8th Annual DuPont BBQ Cookoff Returns August 16–17, 2025
The smell of slow-smoked barbecue will fill the air in DuPont this August as the 8th Annual DuPont BBQ Cookofffires up on August 16–17, 2025. This Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition brings world-class pitmasters right here to the South Sound, giving families, food lovers, and music fans a weekend packed with flavor, fun, and community spirit.
A Feast for the Community
On Saturday, the park transforms into a BBQ lover’s paradise. Pitmasters from across the region will be competing for top honors under KCBS rules, and most teams will offer samples for a nominal price — often starting as low as $2. This is a rare chance to try championship-level barbecue without leaving town. This is the only Kansas City Barbeque Society Sanctioned event in wall of Washington. The winners of this contest compete for a chance to be invited to the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational BBQ, the most prestigious competitions in all of BBQ.

These pit masters are the best in the Pacific Northwest and some are coming from all over the West Coast!
More Than Just BBQ
Alongside the competition, families will find free kids’ activities, including trout fishing and bounce houses, ensuring fun for all ages. A massive tent will feature a beverage garden and shaded seating, the perfect place to relax with friends while enjoying live music all weekend long.
Best of all — entry is free, and parking is free. Get BBQ samples from the competitors! Your kids will love it!

Supporting Veterans and the Local Community
The DuPont BBQ Cookoff is proudly produced by the American Legion Pat Tillman Memorial Post 53. Proceeds from the event support veterans and community programs throughout the year. Attending the cookoff means you’re not only enjoying amazing food and music but also helping to give back.
