Unplug for Digital Detox Week at the Novi Public Library

There’s no arguing that we are inundated with digital media every day with televisions everywhere from gas stations to grocery stores.  We walk around with mini-computers in our pockets, and spend a great deal of time staring at screens.  With that in mind it’s great to unplug and there’s no better time to do it than during Digital Detox Week (AKA Screen Free Week).  Starting next week the Novi Public Library will have a variety of programs to offer those who want to take a break from technology.

This Sunday, the City of Novi and Novi Public Library invite you to get the family out to enjoy a bike ride using the City of Novi's new paths. Also, take part in a bike drive by donating used bikes to Detroit area children.  For more information on this event click here   

The fun continues on Monday night at 7:00 pm when we host Family Game Night.  See how your skills stack up against other families in our first ever Pictionary draw off. Other games will be available for a variety of ages.  Click here to register

There is nothing quite as sweet as reading a book together as a family. Join us for a discussion and activities related to The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo on Wednesday at 7 pm. Upon registration each family will receive a copy of the book.

Then on Thursday at 7 pm join us for Family Story Time where we will enjoy stories from local Rotary members along with music and a craft.

To wrap up the week we’ll have our final event on Saturday where you can prepare for the 5th annual Kite Festival in Lyon Township at the library. Decorate your own kite to take to the festival and learn about kite safety. Show off your kite at the Lyon Township Kite Festival on June 2nd.  Register here
