• Explore Big Bear's ‘Dark Brew Trail' during ‘Dark Sky Week' (nbcsandiego.com) — Big Bear Lake will host Dark Sky Week activities April 13–20, including a Towne Trail night hike led by Big Bear Solar Observatory and Big Bear Hiking Adventures. Local breweries and coffeehouses are also joining a themed “Dark Brew Trail,” and residents are encouraged to explore the community’s Dark Sky Initiative to support stargazing-friendly lighting in the valley.
   

• Jackie and Shadow on ‘pip watch' as famed bald eagles await chicks (vvdailypress.com) — Jackie and Shadow, the bald eagles nesting near Big Bear Lake, are officially on “pip watch” as two new eggs are expected to hatch any day. The Friends of Big Bear Valley nonprofit is updating fans while the 24-hour eagle cam lets locals and classrooms watch the slow, delicate hatching process unfold high above the San Bernardino Mountains.
