Canyon’s bats erupted, led by senior William Peck and sophomore pitcher Travis Reeves, giving the Cowboys momentum as they prepare to host Lancaster in what could be a much more competitive showdown.
   

• Dogs rescued in massive Lake Hughes operation receive emergency grooming care (abc7.com) — Dozens of dogs rescued from alleged hoarding conditions in Lake Hughes are now receiving emergency grooming and medical care at the county animal shelter in Lancaster, with support from Homeboy Industries’ Puppy Fades program and West Coast Grooming Academy. County officials say many animals are still recovering from serious health issues, and it will be some time before they’re ready for adoption.
