San Ramon Students Win Bay Area Regional Science Olympiad, Headed To NorCal State Tournament
The Dougherty Valley High School Science Olympiad team won first place at the competition, edging a number of top regional teams.

SAN RAMON, CA — The Dougherty Valley High School Wildcats are headed to the Northern California State Tournament after securing a first place win at the Bay Area Regional Science Olympiad.
The Wildcats competed in a total of 23 STEM events, which included everything from designing helicopters to building hovercrafts. The team scored a total of 71 points, edging out top teams like Woodside High School and San Francisco University High School, and earning top honors in categories like Anatomy and Physiology.
This marks Dougherty Valley’s first win at the regional Science Olympiad, though last year they came in second place. They will compete against 10 other teams on Saturday at the Northern California State Tournament, which will be held at Cal State East Bay. If they win, they will move onto the Science Olympiad National Tournament this May at the University of Southern California.
