New Canaan Board Of Selectmen To Review Roadwork, Public Works Contracts During Upcoming Meeting

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider a number of items during its regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

According to an agenda available on the town website, the meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room and be conducted as a hybrid session, with remote access available via Zoom.

Among the items listed on the agenda, the board is scheduled to consider approval of a contract with FGB Construction for repaving of various roads totaling $293,650, according to the agenda.

The board is also expected to review several other public works–related contracts and purchase order increases, including a possible contract with Silent Watchman totaling $38,510 to install a new fire alarm at Waveny House, as well as a possible $17,600 contract to fabricate and install safety guards for pumps at the town's waste water treatment plant, according to the agenda.

According to the agenda, additional infrastructure and maintenance items the board may consider include:

  • A possible contract in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for preparing updates to the town's stormwater mapping system.
  • A possible contract for playground repairs at Kiwanis Park totaling $27,000.
  • Possible replacement of a water line at Benko Pool, which could cost a total of $14,186.25.
  • Possible emergency removal, pruning and stump removal of various trees in town totaling $15,840.

The board is also scheduled to consider several smaller purchase order increases and contracts, including vehicle repairs and tire services, according to the agenda.

Other agenda items listed include appointments or reappointments to local boards and commissions, including the Historic District Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
