Decision Made On Plans To Convert Former Indeed Building Into 231-Unit Apartment Complex In Stamford

Plans call for converting a 16-story, 180,000-square-foot office building into 231 residential units with amenity spaces.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Zoning Board this week unanimously approved plans to convert a large vacant office building that formerly housed employment company Indeed into an apartment complex.

Real estate developer RMS Companies, which purchased 177 Broad St. in December 2025 for $13.2 million, plans to convert the 16-story, 180,000-square-foot office building into 231 residential units, of which 168 will be studio apartments. Over a dozen units will be designated as "affordable."

Indeed relocated to 200 Elm St. and opened its new offices last year.

The apartment complex will feature "a really impressive amenity package and athletic facility" for residents, according to Ray Mazzeo, a project manager from Redniss & Mead who worked on the application on behalf of RMS Companies.

There will be a half-court basketball court, racquet court, climbing walls, golf simulator, rooftop pool, and more. The amenity plaza will be above the parking garage on the property, Mazzeo said in a March 9 meeting before the Stamford Zoning Board.

Changes to the exterior will be "minor and more cosmetic," Mazzeo said, noting the idea is to give the pedestrian level of the structure "more of a residential feel."

The ground floor area will also be enhanced with wood accents.

The Stamford Zoning Board approved the application with little discussion on Monday.

Among the conditions placed on the approval, the applicant must provide no less than 488 self-parking spaces and no less than five electric vehicle charging spaces.

Additionally, before issuance of the certificate of occupancy, the applicant shall provide and plant no less than 36 trees — 11 along Broad Street, 11 on Greyrock Place, eight on Main Street, and six on Suburban Avenue.
