BRADENTON, FL — A year-and-a-half after opening, All Labs Today, a family-owned laboratory in Lakewood Ranch, continues its mission of offering affordable and accessible bloodwork through its new program, All Labs Monthly.

Through this initiative, members, paying either $49 a month or $399 for the year, receive essential monthly bloodwork. The plan includes CBC and CMP panels every month, plus quarterly and biannual tests like thyroid, vitamin D, testosterone, and more.

This bloodwork would typically cost patients more than $600 a year, John Rojas, owner and CEO, told Patch.

The program is also customizable whether people want to get their lab work done monthly, quarterly or every six months.

“Our main focus is helping our community with affordable lab testing. Nowadays, it’s hard for people with no insurance or a high deductible,” he said. “Our affordable wellness membership allows everyone to take control of their own health by knowing their numbers.”

Rojas added, “The beauty of it is you don’t need a doctor’s notice or lab order to get it.”

His own daughter recently experienced difficulties navigating the health care system and health insurance firsthand.

Her doctor ordered some labwork for her and she decided to use her insurance, her father said. She went to one of the major chain lab testing and diagnostics companies for this.

She received an invoice for $274 after getting the work done, Rojas said. “That’s on top of the total amount of almost $3,000 that was billed to her insurance. Those labs, if she would have come here [to All Labs Today,] she would have paid way less.”

Many people are often confused by how their insurance works, he added.

“Sometimes, people don’t understand the concept,” according to Rojas. “Because they have insurance, they think it will be paid for, and they always get surprised with bills from the lab … The reality is they could have gotten those labs at a cheaper price.”

With a background in real estate and banking, he was introduced to the health care industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. He opened 23 testing sites in the Bradenton and Sarasota areas.

Through this work, he realized the need for affordable lab testing, and began creating his business model for All Labs Today.

“I saw why people sometimes don’t want to go to those big labs,” he said.

At All Labs Today, he focuses on customer service, affordability and accessibility. People can walk in at any time without a doctor’s order to receive the bloodwork they’re looking for. They also have the option of having a staff member go to their home to draw blood.

“It’s about whatever is convenient for them,” Rojas said.

Because all the lab testing instruments are on site, most results are back within 24 hours.

The results are more consistent, as there are less concerns about samples being shipped out and how they’re handled by the carrier, he added.

He hopes to eventually franchise the All Labs Today brand.

“But my goal right now is we’re looking to crawl before we walk,” he said. “We’re working on getting this lab running the best way possible first.”

The company also focuses on community through its nonprofit organization, ALT Foundation, which makes testing accessible to the underserved, uninsured and underinsured by partnering with organizations like Turning Points and We Care Manatee.
