• Venice to annex Sarasota County land owned by radio station for homes (heraldtribune.com) — Venice City Council has advanced plans to annex a 10.12-acre parcel on North Auburn Road for The Chalets of Venice, a 43-home subdivision, with final votes expected as early as April 7. The project would convert part of iHeartMedia-owned land into villa-style homes with sidewalks, a walking trail, and a 35-foot height limit, pending Planning Commission review of the binding master plan. 
• Law enforcement investigating after scuba diver says she was dragged by boat (winknews.com) — A scuba diver says she was dragged about 60 yards by a boat that snagged her dive flag while she was off Venice Beach, prompting an investigation by Florida Fish and Wildlife officials. The Waves Boat and Social Club in Venice acknowledges owning the boat and says it’s cooperating, while the diver hopes the viral video pushes rental operators to stress boater safety around local divers.
