• Bomb threat at Lane Southern Orchards was a ‘hoax,' company says (macon.com) — A bomb threat temporarily shut down Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley on Monday, prompting evacuations and a full search by fire and law enforcement before officials determined it was a hoax. The roadside market on Lane Road was closed for about three hours before safely reopening, and the Peach County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the threatening call.
   

• Fort Valley police investigating drive-by shooting on Tuesday, interim chief says (13wmaz.com) — Fort Valley police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon drive-by shooting on Pine Street, where no one was injured but suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan. Interim Chief David Wilson says officers are also probing an earlier, non-injury shooting at Indian Oaks Apartments just a few days prior, both within a short distance of each other.
   

• Fort Valley sees drop in gun violence one year after anti-violence rally, authorities say (13wmaz.com) — Fort Valley officials report a sharp drop in shootings, aggravated assaults, and gun-related homicides in the year after the “Guns Down Prayers Up” rally, crediting more officers and new patrol strategies. Police have added motorcycle and mounted units, strengthened partnerships with Peach County and Fort Valley State University, and expanded training, even as the department transitions to Interim Chief David Wilson.
