Tyson Foods closing Georgia prepared foods plant (meatpoultry.com) — Tyson Foods is shutting down its prepared foods plant in Rome, a facility that’s long produced Nature Valley granola bars and has been part of the community since the 1970s. The company cites business changes, hasn’t disclosed job losses, and says it will work with local and state partners to support affected workers during the transition.

Buffalos Cafe in Rome Closes 'By Order of City/County Officials' (coosavalleynews.com) — A well-known Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe in Rome has been temporarily closed by order of city and county officials, with no public explanation yet given. The shutdown has surprised regulars, and it’s still unknown how long it will last or what’s required for the restaurant to reopen. Officials and management have not responded to requests for more details.

[VIDEO] Brockovich: Nothing is going to change unless you get involved (wrganews.com) — Erin Brockovich came to Rome’s Forum River Center to brief residents on PFAS “forever chemicals” in local waters and how to test their property or pursue legal options. Her team sampled the Oostanaula River, discussed proposed state legislation, and outlined plans to aggressively test water, dust, and soil across Floyd and nearby counties.

Exchange Club of Rome names Youth of the Year (northwestgeorgianews.com) — A Rome-based Exchange Club has named Armuchee High School senior Manrajpreet “Mannu” Singh its Youth of the Year, putting him in the running for state and possibly national scholarships. Singh’s service-focused essay and volunteer work at a Sikh temple in Atlanta impressed judges, while students from Rome High and other local schools also received recognition and cash awards.

Junior Service League of Rome Announces 2026 Garden Tour (coosavalleynews.com) — Rome residents can stroll through private gardens in the Horseleg Creek area during the Junior Service League of Rome’s final Garden Tour on Saturday, April 25. With ticket options from basic wristbands to a VIP trolley and patron party, the event raises grant money that will be reinvested into local nonprofits during the 2026–2027 league year.
