• USDA awards grant to East Georgia Healthcare Center to expand rural access to healthcare (emanuelcountylive.com) — Screven County residents are set to benefit from a new USDA-funded telemedicine expansion that will connect rural patients to East Georgia Healthcare Center providers. A $379,048 grant will equip hub and end‑user sites across several counties with video and computing tools, supporting primary care, mental health, pediatrics, and patient education for more than 35,000 rural Georgians.
   

• Georgia Dept. of Agriculture issues warning of invasive, destructive hornets (wjbf.com) — People in Screven County are being urged to watch closely for invasive Yellow‑legged Hornet nests as queens start building them this spring. The Georgia Department of Agriculture says early reports from residents, especially in highlighted counties like Screven, are crucial to protect honeybees and agriculture. Suspected nests should be reported, not removed personally.
