BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge equestrian estate priced at $10 million may give way to houses for senior citizens, a developer says.

The developer, Downers Grove-based Oakley Home Builders, has submitted its concept to Burr Ridge officials.

Last August, the 7-acre property at 6191 S. County Line Road was put on the market.

The estate features a fenced riding area with lighting, a tennis court, a hot tub and walking paths.

Behind security gates, the 9,300-square-foot home includes six bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms. The house is 80 years old, according to Cook County records.

The estate, called Saddle Farm, features a fenced riding area with lighting, a tennis court, a hot tub and walking paths. The property also includes a coach house.

Real estate websites list the property as "contingent," meaning a deal depends on certain conditions being met.

Under the developer's plan, the new subdivision, called Saddle Hill Estates, would include 16 houses for those 55 and older.

Burr Ridge has an older population, with the median age at 57. The median age is in the early 40s in neighboring wealthy towns such as Hinsdale, Western Springs and La Grange.

In its statement to the village, Oakley said it wants to provide a "Downsize Without Compromise" neighborhood. The subdivision would feature a gathering spot near an outdoor fireplace.

"Saddle Hill Estates is more than a collection of luxury homes — it is a carefully orchestrated living experience built around the idea that the best years of your life deserve the most thoughtfully designed environment," the developer said.

The Saddle Farm estate's owner is Jacqueline Laase Parrillo, according to property tax records. She and her then-husband, Beau Parrillo, bought the house in 2002, the Chicago Tribune reported last year.

Burr Ridge's Plan Commission, which handles zoning matters, plans to review the concept at its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.

The developer has not submitted an application yet. The item on the meeting's agenda is referred to as an "informal discussion."

In the agenda, the village said it offers an informal review for any potential proposals.

The Plan Commission should be "careful not to usurp" the public hearing process.

During a public hearing, people can weigh in on the proposal.
