York Principal To Get Less Money At New Job

She is taking an administrative job in another suburban district, starting July 1.

ELMHURST, IL – York High School's principal, who accepted an administrative post in another school district, is set to get less money.

As of last school year, Principal Jessica Hurt received $181,642 in base salary as York's principal. That compares to $177,195 that she will receive in Aurora-based Indian Prairie School District 204.

But at York, she received $19,122 in retirement enhancements, bringing her compensation to $200,764.

According to Indian Prairie's compensation report last year, the most any employee received in retirement enhancements was about $1,100.

When retirement enhancements are included, Hurt will receive more than $20,000 less at Indian Prairie, based on information from both districts.

Hurt did not return an emailed message for comment on Tuesday.

Patch reported on Hurt's new job last week. At the time, Indian Prairie did not make Hurt's compensation available.

On July 1, Hurt starts her new job as director of high school curriculum for Indian Prairie.

Hurt is in her third year as York's principal.
