Glenview Tree Chosen To Light Up Chicago's Millennium Park For Holidays: Report

The 112th annual City of Chicago Christmas Tree lighting ceremony is planned for Nov. 21.

GLENVIEW, IL — A tree has been chosen for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Chicago's Millennium Park, and it is one local residents can especially be proud of.

NBC5 Chicago is reporting a 68-foot Norway spruce was selected, and it was grown by the Mason family in Glenview. Described as one of the "largest" in City history, the tree is scheduled to be cut down Monday and moved to the park.

The 112th annual City of Chicago Christmas tree lighting ceremony is planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 21, near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Washington Street. The tree will remain illuminated through Jan. 11, 2026.

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events said guests can enjoy multiple viewing areas throughout Millennium Park, complete with giant screens, seasonal treats, and a "vibrant" main stage along Washington Street, right beside the Chicago Cultural Center. The celebration will reach its "magical finale" with the illumination of Chicago's Christmas Tree, followed by a fireworks display.
