• Catholic health care's policies limit reproductive care in rural Illinois counties (shawlocal.com) — Residents in Ottawa and the rest of La Salle County now rely heavily on OSF HealthCare for reproductive care after Ottawa’s Planned Parenthood closed and the state approved cuts to OSF’s Ottawa hospital, including labor and delivery and ICU services. Because OSF follows Catholic directives, many birth control, fertility, and abortion services are unavailable locally, leaving health departments and a few pharmacies scrambling to fill critical gaps. 
• Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Workshops For Local Governments, Communities (effinghamradio.com) — Local governments and organizations around Ottawa can attend an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program workshop at IDOT’s District 3 headquarters on Norris Drive June 8–9 to learn how to secure funding for bike, pedestrian, and other transportation projects. The sessions include presentations, one-on-one help, and networking, with a focus on projects that improve quality of life and access in communities with financial need.
