More Than 600 Citations Issued In 2025 Fiscal Year Enforcement Program: Plainfield PD

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police issued 623 citations and made 13 arrests in an enforcement program that lasted the entirety of the 2025 fiscal year, officials said Monday.

Tickets were issued as part of the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, a statewide effort that lasted from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025. The enhanced enforcement was aimed at reducing crashes and saving lives, according to a news release.

  • 57 speeding citations
  • 461 occupant restraint citations
  • 52 electronic device use citations
  • 53 other traffic citations
  • 1 driving under the influence arrest
  • 7 traffic arrests
  • 5 criminal arrests

"The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone," Sgt. Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "By focusing on the leading causes of crashes — such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts — we aimed to save lives and remind drivers that violating traffic laws will not be tolerated."

The Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program was paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
