Romeoville Designates Virginia Bluebell As Its Official Flower
The Village's conservation and sustainability committee will also hold the inaugural Bluebell Festival on May 2 at O'Hara Woods.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Village of Romeoville has designated the Virginia Bluebell as the official flower of the Village.
"The Village of Romeoville is committed to preserving and celebrating the natural beauty, ecological diversity and environmental heritage of our community," Mayor John Noak said during Wedneday's Village Board meeting.
The Virginia Bluebell is a native wildflower of Illinois, known for its "striking clusters of bell-shaped blossoms" that turn from pink buds to blue flowers, according to the proclamation. It thrives in woodland and river bank environments.

"Designating an official village flower fosters community pride, environmental awareness and appreciation for the natural features that enhance the quality of life for residents," Noak said.
